Calvin  says  that  this  shows  that  we  need  to  be  reproved  very  often.

1.  God  warns  us  to  repent.

– 2:2;  a  divorce  is  threatened  (Isa.50:1;  Jer.3:8)

– 2:4-5;  Israel  is  chasing  after  the  Baal  …

James  Montgomery  Boice  called  this  ‘the  second  greatest  story  in  the  Bible’.  ‘Hosea’  means  ‘He  saves’.  Israel  is  God’s  wayward  bride  (cf. Isa.54:5;  Jer.31:32;  Eph.5:25;  Rev.19:7-9)
