Praise the Lord, not Princes
Psalm 146; Luke 1:46-56
– one of the final ‘praise’ Psalms; Col.3:16
1. We ought not to put our hope in man.
– vv.3-4; no Thousand Year Reich, etc; the Scottish Presbyterians should not have trusted Charles II in 1660
– man dies (Psalm 39:4-6; 144:3-4; Isa.31:1-3)
2. Trust in God who is great and good.
– vv.5-9
(a) He is in covenant with Israel (v.5).
(b) He is the creator (v.6).
(c) He is full of righteous mercy and kindness (vv.7-9).
3. Praise the Lord in time and eternity.
– vv.1-2 – time; v.10 – in eternity
