Perfect Person, Perfect Work
Colossians 2:9; Galatians 3:13
1 Cor.2:2 – Jesus Christ (the person) and Him crucified (the work)
1. The perfect person.
– Col.2:9
(a) Christ is God. Not like creation giving us some idea of God (Rom.1:20). Heb.13:8; John 14:9. Martin Luther: ‘You shall look to this man and say that He is God.’
(b) The Son became man. Isa.9:6; John 1:1, 14; He was no phantom, the ghost who walks.
(c) The incarnation is forever. He is still the God-man.
2. The perfect work.
– Gal.3:13
(a) the curse of the law is death for disobedience. Gal.3:10; Gen.2:16-17; Ex.33:20; Rom.6:23
(b) Christ became a curse for sinners. Gal.3:13; 2 Cor.5:21.
