No Images of God (Ex.20:4-6)
Exodus 32:1-35

In  63  B.C  the  Roman  general  Ponpey  found  nothing  in  the  holy  of  holies,  to  his  surprise.

1. Religious  art  is  not  totally  excluded.

– Ex.25:18; 26:1;  1 Kings 6:23-26

– but  note  Numbers 21:7-9  and  2 Kings 18:4

2. God  is  not  to  be  represented  in  picture  form.

– Ex.32:1-4;  Judges 17:1-6;  note  Acts 19:24-27, 29, 32

– Acts 17:29

3. Idolatry  spoils  future  generations.

– Ex.20:5-6

4. The  true  image  of  God.

– human  beings  (Gen.1:26-27).  Christ  is  now  the  only  perfect  image  (2 Cor.4:3-4)
