The King and His Kingdom
John  21:28-42

– Trinitarian greeting in Rev.1:4-5a, then doxology in Rev.1:5b-7

1. The King’s sacrifice.

– 1:5b; see Eph.5:2; Paul cannot fathom the depths of the love of Christ (Eph.3:17-19)

– Rev.5:9; substitution is what makes Good Friday good.

2. The King’s accomplishments.

– 1:6; note that Ex.19:5-6 is applied to the Church (also in 1 Pet.2:5, 9)

– Rev.5:10; 22:5

– the great High Priest creates a kingdom of priests, with access to the Father

3. The King’s final victory.

– 1:7; Acts 1:9-11

– Dan.7:13 and Zech.12:10 together

– sinners sent Christ to the cross. Wail in repentance or wail under judgment.
