THE NATIONS HONOUR ZION
Isaiah 60:10-22; Revelation 21:1-8, 22-27
– this is the new Zion which culminates in the new heaven and the new earth (Gal.4:25-26, 31; Heb.12:22-24; Rev.21:2).
– Glorious things of thee are spoken,/ Zion, city of our God (John Newton)
1. Zion will triumph.
– 60:10-14; what is true in 1 Kings 5:8-9 becomes true in a far greater sense in Rev.21:22-26
2. Zion will be transformed.
– 60:15-18; like ‘before and after’ photos
– Who will save the planet?
3. The Lord will shine in Zion.
– 60:19-22; see Rev.21:23
– Lev.26:8 for victory; Isa.53:11 for righteousness
– Saviour, if of Zion’s city/ I through grace a member am,/ Let the world deride or pity,/ I will glory in Thy name:/ Fading is the worldling’s pleasure,/ All his boasted pomp and show;/ Solid joys and lasting treasure/ None but Zion’s children know (John Newton)
