SERMON NOTES
A COVENANT OF GRACE
Genesis 8:20-9:7; Luke 17:20-37
– works fail, Christ does not (Rom.8:3). After the covenant of works with Adam, there is a covenant of grace with Noah (Gen.6:18)
1. A sacrifice for sin.
– Gen.8:20; Lev.1:9 before Moses gave it
– Heb.11:7; points to something far greater (Eph.5:2)
2. A covenant of common grace.
(a) No more universal floods – Gen.8:21. God is gracious to people whose hearts are still sinful (Gen.6:5)
– like Ex.33:3; 34:9
(b) An orderly sequence in nature more – Gen.8:22; nature points to God (Psalms 104, 148).
3. This points to a yet greater covenant of grace.
– Isa.54:9-10
– John 6:47
