Talk That Builds Up
(Ephesians 4:29-30)

1. Put off unwholesome talk.
– Martyn Lloyd-Jones even suggested that Christians do not talk as much as non-Christians
– ‘rotten’ talk (same word used to describe the tree in Matt.7:17-18)

2. Put on edifying talk.
– Prov.15:23; Col.4:6; Luke 4:22
3. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.
– Isa.63:10; we can only grieve a person, not a force; this motive is relational.
– sealed (Eph.1:13-14) for the day Christ comes again.
– James 3:2
