SERMON NOTES
LOVE FULFILS THE LAW
(Romans 13:8-10)
– note Rom.3:31
1. We are to owe people nothing.
– 13:8a; link with verse 7; the Bible does not forbid borrowing or lending (Ex.22:25; Ps.37:26; Matt.5:42)
– but beware of debt (Ps.37:21)
2. We owe love to each other.
– 13:8b; to all in 1 Thess.5:15
– this is the debt which we can never pay off (Mark 12:30-31; Gal.5:14; James 2:8)
3. Love fulfils the law.
– 13:8-10; many approaches and motives e.g. Rom.12:1-12; 13:11-14; Eph.4:30
– Mind Body Spirit Festival tells us to love ourselves, but the Bible points to others.
– love obeys the commandments (Ps.119:97; John 14:15)
