GOD’S GRACIOUS ELECTION
Deuteronomy 7:1-11; Matthew 11:25-27
– vv.25-27 is a prayer to the Father; vv.28-30 an appeal to the people.
1. God chooses the lowly.
– 11:25-26; see 1 Cor.1:26-29; Matt.16:16-17
– John 6:37 has election and appeal to all
– Richard Dawkins: ‘Well, we’re bright.’ Not so, see Matt.21:16
2. Christ is the only Mediator.
– 11:27; see 28:18; contrast to us (1 Cor.13:12)
– Matt.6:9 – God adopts His people; John 5:18 – Christ is God’s Son by nature
3. The Son wills to reveal the Father to His people.
– 11:27; God is made known in Christ (John 14:9)
– this is the basis for the universal appeal in vv.28-30
