Genesis 12:1-9; Genesis 15:1-21
– Abraham was originally a worshipper of idols (Josh.24:2) but became the friend of God (2 Chron.20:7; Isa.41:8; James 2:23) and the father of all who believe (Rom.4:11).
1. A promised land, a great nation, and worldwide blessing.
– 12:1-3; all unexpected
2. God’s reassurances to Abraham.

– Abraham believes (15:6), but struggles for assurance (15:7-8)
– for 15:9-21, see Jer.34:18-19; God is saying: ‘May this happen to Me if I do not keep My covenant’!
