SERMON NOTES
THE CYCLE DOWNWARDS
(Judges 2:10-3:6)
1. Rebellion.
– 2:10-13; the World Parliament of Religions will meet in Melbourne in December, and Acts 4:12 will not be taught; see Deut.7:1-6; Ps.106:34-40
2. Repression.
– 2:14-15; see Lev.26:7-8 and Lev.26:17; God is a jealous God (Ex.34:14)
3. Remorse.
– not really here; found in 3:9 but in 15:11 people feared the judge; note some sort of remorse in Ahab in 1 Kings 21:23-29
4. Rescue.
– 2:16, 18; God looks with compassion on His people (see Ex.2:24-25)
5. Rest.
– not explicitly here but found in 3:30. These rests are partial (Heb.4:8-11)
6. More rebellion, repression, and rebellion.
– 2:20-3:6; Israel fails the test; need for 2 Cor.5:17
