PRAYERS FOR THE PROCLAMATION OF THE GOSPEL
(Ephesians 6:19-24)
1. Paul’s request for the prayers of the Ephesians.
– 6:19-20; no diplomatic immunity for an ambassador! (2 Cor.5:20)
– Acts 4:23-24, 29
– to make known the mystery (Eph.1:9-10; 3:3-12)
2. Prayer and encouragement thrive on knowledge.
– 6:21-22; see Col.4:7-9
– John Stott: ‘Prayer, correspondence and visits are still three major means by which Christians and churches can enrich one another and so contribute to the building up of the body of Christ.’
3. Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians.
– 6:23-24; for peace (1:2; 2:14, 17; 6:15), love (1:4-5, 15; 3:17-19; 5:2), faith (1:15; 2:8; 4:5), and grace (2:8-9; 3:8; 4:32)
– battle on but remember the victory (1 Cor.15:57)
