SERMON  NOTES
GOD  OVER,  THROUGH,  AND  IN  ALL
(Ephesians  4:6)

– only  refers  to  the  Father,  but is  nevertheless  Trinitarian

1. God  over  all.

– in  salvation  (1:3-6);  in  prayer  (3:14;  Matt.6:9;  John 16:23;)

– Trinitarian  in  2:18;  some  prayer  to  the  Son  (Acts 7:59;  2 Cor.12:8);  praise  in  1:3,  but  also  note  Rev.5:13-14

2. God  through  all.

– to  the  world  in  Ps.105:7;  Acts 17:27-28

– Jer.23:23-24;  Rom.10:5-9;  Eph.2:6

– same  for  the  Son  (Matt.18:19-20)  and  the  Spirit  (1 Cor.3:16)

3. God  in  all.

– John 14:17, 20, 23;  usually  through  the  Spirit  (2 Cor.6:16;  Lev.26:12;  Ezek.37:27)

– Gregory  of  Nazianzus  wrote  of  the  Trinity:  ‘I  cannot  think  of  the  One  without  quickly  being  encircled  by   the  splendour  of  the  Three;  nor  can  I  discern  the  Three  without  being  straightway  carried  back  to  the  One.’   Rom.11:33-36
