A Walk Worthy of the Gospel
(Ephesians 4:1-2)
– peripatetic philosophers ‘walked’; David Hume could not see how his philosophy could ‘walk’.
1. What we do is linked to what we believe.
– 4:1; see the negative side in 1 Cor.15:32
– note Rom.12:1; the whole approach shows how wrong it is to say ‘doctrine divides, service unites’.
2. We are called to walk in a way that is worthy of the gospel.
– 4:1; Phil.1:27
– to holiness (1:4), to dwell in the heavenly places (2:6-7), to know His grace (2:8), to good works (2:10), to live in the one body of Christ (2:17), to grow in strength and love (3:16-19)
3. We are to walk in lowliness, gentleness, longsuffering, and loving forbearance.
– 4:2
– humility (Phil.2:3-7); gentleness (Matt.11:29); patience (Ps.103:8), bearing with one another
