Peter Barnes | Revelation 22:6-13
SERMON NOTES
The Coming of Jesus
(Revelation 22:6-13)
– the King is coming to claim His own.
1. Obey the prophecy.
– 22:6-7 this is true and trustworthy, and is meant not just to be understood but ‘kept’
2. Worship God alone.
– 22:8-9, a repeat of 19:10
– Jesus is worshipped (John 9:38); note Peter’s response in Acts 10:25-26
– ‘Erect before men, prostrate before God’ (Abraham Kuyper)
3. The book of Revelation is being implemented now.
– 22:10; contrast to Daniel 8:8, 26; 12:4, 8-9
– meant for the first century as well as the twenty-first
4. We have one life, then the judgment.
– 22:11-13; now God says ‘come’ (Isa.55:6-7); but there will be life and death (2 Cor.2:15-16)
– the day of grace will end (Eccles.11:3)
